Twenty Years is an interactive installation that encourages audiences to engage with the construction of contemporary art and socio-political debate as active participants. The aim of this project is to foster community cohesion in an accessible and interactive way.

In the light of current global politics, climate change & COVID-19, it is increasingly hard to see the future with clarity. The installation gathers thoughts, memories & predictions from visitors using index cards under categories such as politics & culture which are added to a timeline mural.

During Portsmouth Festivities 2019, Bennett and McDermott were Artists in Residence at Aspex, Portsmouth and presented Twenty Years as part of their residency.  Following this they were shortlisted for Best Visual Artist 2019 at the Portsmouth Guide Awards.

Arts Council England supported a tour of Twenty Years in 2021 and 2022.  The project visited Southampton City Art Gallery, Old Fire Station Oxford, Museum in the Park, Stroud and The Herbert, Coventry.
